I finished the whole thing :O

Strongest point is clearly the game mechanic + the music.

Excellent fading in/out of the background music and volume adjustment done depending on the level and the level of activity happening on-screen. Where can I find the background music? I don't think it was up on your website. 10/10

The game mechanic is just original, big props to that :D I'm sick of defense games and platformers that don't depart much from Super Mario Bros. by now 10/10

The only thing I would love is more plot. I'm not denying that there is a plot, however it is very loose and in some senses sparse. For example there would be many levels which provide very little in terms of story, where the only goal was to reach the door. In these levels the only goal is the puzzle and there were few details which contributed anything significant (a dead tree there, some more ground here). It seemed most of the development occurred in the last few levels of the game, which I didn't mind but also didn't love. 8/10

on a side note I wish there were more of those black orbs, they were horribly frustrating but extremely fun to play around with.

Sweet

All that's good about this game has already been said.

Points of Improvement:
-more varied battle soundtracks, It's the same problem I had with Final Fantasy 10. I end up getting sick of the soundtrack after a while due to the dozens upon dozens of battles you get into. Music that changes depending on setting would be a great addition. As a side note, sound effects for some of the spells and attacks would be nice as well.

-Although I respect the attempt it'd be nice to find someone to make the portrait art more professional.

my tips are all nitpicky because the core gameplay is fine and I have nothing bad to say about it x) very fun game.

FANTASTIC

oh wow. . .

the need to time hits makes the ussually boring turn-based rpg style fight much more interesting. Although the rest of the fighting system is in no way revolutionary, what I especially loved about this rpg is the dialogue!!!!

It truly brings out the characters while poking fun at the story and making me laugh all at once. It's a fantasy comedy-drama that brings back memories of old school animes like Slayers with it's serious plot layered with great characters and sprinkled with ridiculous hilarity.

Keep it comin pls =)

p.s. Melchior is soooooooo awesome!!!

Things of Note/Improvement

The skill system seems to be based on how much you hit//block

For example I'd level slash skill slower with a powerful weapon that kills the enemy in 2 hits. If I use a 7 damage shit sword I'd actually level slash much more per enemy. Instead of basing skill leveling on number of hits, it should be based on damage done so it's more fair, especially since there are limited enemies.

This issue is most apparent with the block skill. By equipping a tower shield and a shitty sword, then minimizing the window and doing something else, my block can be leveled all the way up to 4-5 by the end of the game. If you intend on making a full version, this power leveling of skills should be addressed.

Also I love the fact that the game is not turn-based because turn based is really slow. I'm guessing the relatively slow pace is to give you time to decide spells and such in between attacks. I guess it just feels a tad slow because there aren't that many spells and options to choose from atm.

concerning the spellcasting it'd be nice to have "modes". Such as a button for attack mode which has you automatically melee enemies and a "zap" button which instead has you auto zap until out of mana. This would make long-term spellcaster characters more accessible.

About the overall layout of the map: I'd like it if either you can run faster or more rooms were "linked" so I don't find myself running through empty space that I've cleared for 5 minutes. Or better yet, have enemies respawn in areas you've cleared (which would also resolve the skill issue since there are infinite enemies to level from).

The graphics of course can always be better, but minimalistic is also important for an rpg. Too much fanciness leads to lag which is detrimental. So overall I like the simplicity.

One aspect you don't need to change and should not be changed is how items never really "dissapear" When you drop them they are still on the floor and when you sell them they're still with the merchant. I LOVE that, don't do anything to that option.

I give 10 =3 I hope u read this

Nemo responds:

Thanks for the criticism. That is actually a very good comment and I am glad you caught that. I didn't really think about that when making this game. Though any future game will probably have significantly different mechanics than this one, I will keep in mind little things like that. Thanks for the review as well! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Well Done

It was a good game, not much to say. Not the most original but not bad.

Got to level 39 :D 2nd place on the scoreboard

Suomaf responds:

Thanks, and good job.

Grows on You

It's obvious from the fact that it only won Daily 2nd Place that it didn't have such a hot start. At first glance it's just another rhythm game that was nothing special from anything else. To top it off there's a stick figure! Oh noes a stick figure (sarcasm).

I was the same when I first found this game. I played a few songs and found it too hard then gave up. But then I came back, and I came back, and now I have Perfect on all the Amateur songs and I'm moving onto the Pros.

It's really one of those games that get better with every play-through. The songs themselves are well done and the timing is excellent and feels natural even if there are some synch issues here and there.

Also it's worth mentioning that when you reach the harder and pro songs, the keys you type correspond perfectly with the song, making it all the more enjoyable.

Great Game :D 9/10

Good one

I had doubts about this until I picked "Tickle to Death"

How the hell do you come up with tickle to death? xD

Meh

Not that fun. Good parody of Pokemon though.

yay

nice puzzle game, but needs work on:
1.Make more challenging 10x10 fields for hard and 20x20 with 15 minutes on the clock for an insane mode ^_^
2. Make the "game" screen bigger. half the screen's taken up by a news board and pause/quit game sign
3.Also lumped in with making the game more challenging, make the titles of each level more enigmatic so I can't guess what I'm drawing. For a lot of em such as Space Invader I just got it without looking at the numbers.

doesn't need work on:
1. graphics
2.gameplay
3.music

regulargabs responds:

thanks for your review, I'll take this opinion when me & Kenney make another nonogram puzzle game.
